Jay Chiat<\/span><\/strong>, (born\u00a0Oct. 25, 1931, Bronx, N.Y.\u2014died\u00a0April 23, 2002, Marina del Rey, Calif.), American\u00a0advertising<\/a>\u00a0executive who was the creative mind behind the \u201c1984\u201d television commercial for Apple\u2019s Macintosh\u00a0personal computer<\/a>, which pioneered the showcasing of commercials during the\u00a0Super Bowl<\/a><\/span>broadcast. Other notable offerings from his Chiat\/Day agency included the billboards featuring Olympic athletes along with the Nike \u201cswoosh\u201d logo during the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics and, from 1989 on, the\u00a0indefatigable<\/a>\u00a0Energizer Bunny.<\/span><\/p>\n
